(New York, NY) — CitiBike is increasing its prices in the new year. The company says the new prices will take effect on January 6th.
Annual membership will go up to 239 dollars, an increase of 20 dollars. For Citi Bike annual members, Ebike and classic bike overage fees will increase to 27 cents per minute in New York City. The fee cap will increase to $5.40 for 45-minute-or-less Ebike rides that go into or out of Manhattan. For members who receive a subsidized membership through their employer, memberships will be $191 per year.
For non-members, the Ebike and classic overage fees will increase to 41 cents per minute.
Monthly memberships will stay at $5 for reduced fare bike share members. Zero unlock fees for members remain in place, along with unlimited 45-minute classic bike rides for members. Annual members will still get 60 free Ebike minutes and five guest passes.
CitiBike says it has tripled its service area and fleet size in recent years and needs to increase its prices to ensure the system remains reliable, while it continues to expand in the outer boroughs.
