(Washington, DC) — President Donald Trump seems to be moving ahead with re-classifying marijuana. He’s set to sign an executive order switching the drug from a Schedule 1 to a Schedule 3, easing federal restrictions.
The reclassification would not completely legalize it on a federal level – but it won’t change state laws. By scheduling marijuana as a level three drug, which means it has a “moderate to low potential for physical and psychological dependence,” the federal government says it could be better for research purposes or for medicinal use.
Some New Yorkers think it has more to do with money than research.
