(Los Angeles, CA) – Following a weekend that saw an apparent terrorist attack claim 15 lives in Australia, all while a deadly shooting unfolded at Brown University, federal authorities say they stopped a New Year’s Eve bomb plot. Members of a pro-Palestinian group have been arrested.
Four suspects have been arrested. The FBI says these individuals are members of an extremist group. Agents apparently uncovered the plot, which would have targeted five separate locations across LA, using IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices). A person affiliated with the same extremist group was arrested in New Orleans, for allegedly plotting a different attack.
Charges ranging from conspiracy to possession of a destructive device have been filed.
It was last year on New Year’s Day when a truck attack was launched in New Orleans, as Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar allegedly drove down Bourbon Street — as revelers were celebrating the start of 2025 in the tourist area. Prosecutors eventually determined that Islamic extremism, as inspired by the Islamic State, was the attacker’s motivation. In that attack, 15 were killed — including the attacker — and 57 were hurt.
Law enforcement agencies across the nation — and the entire world — are on edge, following the Bondi Beach attack in Sydney. A father and son duo are accused of using shotguns to shoot dead 15 people during a Hanukkah celebration. That’s not even getting into the Brown University shooting, which left two dead and over half a dozen injured.
On Sid and Friends in the Morning — Monday, December 15 — former Congressman Peter King of Long Island shared his experience as a member of the Homeland Security Committee. He said that it’s vital law enforcement agencies have the resources — as well as the political will among leadership — to keep the homeland defended.
