(Newark, NJ) — Construction is starting on New Jersey’s first studio that’s designed just for film and television.
Governor Phil Murphy is among those on hand in Newark December 11th to mark the start of the building of Lionsgate Newark. The studio in the South Ward will be operated by Great Point Studios and is expected to open in 2027.
It is expected to create hundreds of new permanent jobs with a priority going toward Newark residents and have an 800 million dollar annual economic impact for New Jersey. Governor Murphy says this will enhance New Jersey’s film industry and create new revenue streams for the state.
