Charlie Kirk’s Accused Killer Back in Court

(Provo, Utah) — The 22-year-old accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, will make his first in-person court appearance in a Utah County courtroom today. Tyler Robinson, who is charged with aggravated murder for the September 10th shooting, has up till now has only made appearances via video or audio link from jail.

Robinson was arrested on the night of September 11, 2025, after a massive manhunt following the shooting, during which Kirk was shot in the neck while speaking to a crowd at Utah State University.

Robinson’s family told investigators that Tyler had become “more political in recent years” and had expressed dislike for Kirk’s viewpoints.  Detectives recovered a rifle and bullet casings near the Utah State University campus.  They were reportedly engraved with anti-fascist messages that authorities say is evidence of a political motive.

Future in-person court appearances are scheduled for January 16 and January 30, 2026. The judge is expected to make further rulings on media access during or after today’s proceedings.
