Who Will Be NY’s Next Governor?

syndication-poughkeepsie-journal-18

(New York, NY) — The race to be New York’s next governor is getting more crowded as Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman announces his candidacy. The problem is, he’s not very well known outside of Long Island.

By throwing his hat into the gubernatorial ring, it sets up a Republican primary in New York since Upstate Representative Elise Stefanik is also running for governor. They’re both hoping to take on Governor Kathy Hochul who had a 43-percent favorability rating in last month’s Siena poll. New Yorkers say Republican or Democrat, they want a candidate who is going to focus on the issues that matter most, including affordability and safety.

Blakeman’s campaign video rattled off his accomplishments while making the case that he’s the one that can defeat Governor Kathy Hochul in the general election. Stefanik’s campaign responded by pointing to polls showing Stefanik beating him and saying Blakeman is putting his ego ahead of New York State.

Some New Yorkers say its not too early to start thinking about who the next governor will be.
