(New York, NY) — New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani met for the first time Tuesday (Dec. 2nd) to discuss the transition when Mamdani is sworn in January 1st.
Both Adams and Mamdani say the meeting went well with the Mayor hoping to convince his successor to keep a lot of his programs intact. He told reporters he thinks the best level of appreciation is duplication.
When Mamdani was asked about Adams’ remark he said he’s made his critiques clear but also noted there are good things that this administration has done. He mentioned Adams’ “City of Yes” initiative and containerization to reduce the rat population. Mamdani also praised Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch’s crime-fighting results, saying it’s a critical part of why he decided to retain her.
