(New York, NY) – Cynthia Erivo opened the 99th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with a breathtaking performance of “Feeling Good.” Standing on a small circular stage accompanied by a pianist, the 38-year-old Wicked: For Good star launched the annual New York City event on Thursday (Nov. 27).
Despite a little breeze, the giant balloons took flight, just a little bit lower than normal. Spectators were thrilled by the performances by Kpop Demon Hunters singers HUNTR/X, Lainey Wilson, Ciara, Foreigner, Debbie Gibson, Jewel, Lil Jon, Kool & the Gang, Taylor Momsen, Busta Rhymes, Shaggy and Teyana Taylor.
The 2025 edition of the parade aired live across all U.S. time zones on NBC and Peacock hosted by TODAY anchors Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker.
Eleven different marching bands from all across the country performed. Five new balloons made their debut, including Buzz Lightyear, Derpy Tiger and Sussie from “KPop Demon Hunters”, Nintendo’s Mario, Pac-Man and Shrek’s Onion Carriage.
Thousands of spectators lined Fifth Avenue to catch a glimpse of the Rockettes, and of course Santa Clause who “wrapped’ up the parade in his famous sleigh.
