(Los Angeles, CA) – The twenty year old singer, D4vd, is being identified as a suspect in the death of a teen girl. Celeste Rivas Hernandez was found dead on September 8th in the back of a vehicle belonging to the singer. She was found dismembered in the trunk of a Tesla that was sitting in a Los Angeles impound lot. D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, has not been formally charged. Here is what we know about the case and the latest developments:
Teen Reported Missing in 2024
Rivas Hernandez was first reported missing from Lake Elsinore, California last year. She was last seen on April 5, 2024 according to the local Sheriff’s Department. She just turned 15 years old when her body was found. She was reported missing at least three times over the year leading up to her passing. Rivas was first reported missing Valentine’s Day 2024, then returned a few days later. She then went missing again on March 19 but returned. Then she was reported missing for a final time on April 5th when she was only 13 years old and in seventh grade.
Manner of Death: Undetermined
The LAPD was called to an impound lot in Hollywood Hills over complaints of a foul odor. Authorities then linked the car to Burke, who was the registered owner. Authorities say they still have not determined the exact cause of death, including whether or not the case is being ruled a homicide or accidental death. Police believe that based on the way she was disposed of, whoever dismembered the body likely had help. The Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman said his office has not yet received the case from police, so no charges have been filed.
D4vd Cancels Tour
While no arrests have been made as of yet, Burke has been laying low since the news broke. He was on tour when Rivas was found, and a spokesperson said he was cooperating with authorities. Later in September, cops were able to execute a search warrant on his home in LA. LAPD said the search resulted in “several items of evidence” being recovered. Several photos and videos have also been circulating online, insinuating a relationship between Burke and Rivas, including reports of matching tattoos. Investigators are still trying to find justice and answers for the victim’s family.
