98th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City
(New York, NY) — It’s being announced that “Wicked” movie star Cynthia Erivo will be singing the opening number for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Her performance comes just days after the “Wicked: For Good” hits movie theaters. Other performers in the 99th Thanksgiving Day Parade include Colbie Caillat, Ciara, and Shaggy. In addition, there are more than five-thousand volunteers, 34 balloons and 28 floats, including seven new ones this year. Some of the new floats include Lego Winter Mountain and a sledding-themed Goldfish float, along with a float featuring the popular Labubu dolls.
Brendan Kennedy, creative director for the Macy’s parade, said they use two-thousand gallons of paint for the parade, 300-pounds of glitter and 200-pounds of confetti.
In addition, there will be a special appearance from Santa. The parade kicks off Thursday, November 27th at 8:30 a.m. on NBC.
