77WABC Press Conference: How Can We Keep New York City Safe?

(New York, NY)  —  Owner and operator of 77 WABC Radio John Catsimatidis loves New York City.  He wants to make sure the city goes in the right direction, once Zohran Mamdani is sworn into office, and has formed an oversight committee to make sure the city stays on track.

At a news conference on Monday, Catsimatidis introduced other New Yorkers who will be joining his committee.  They include former NYPD Chief John Chell, former New York Governor David Paterson, veteran political consultant Hank Sheinkopf, President of the Partnership for NYC Kathryn Wylde and real estate executive Suzanne Miller.  77WABC on-air personality and former City Hall reporter Dominic Carter hosted the discussion.

Catsimatidis says all New Yorkers want quality of life, and moving forward, he’s worried about his kids and grandkids.  He said he wants to stop the exodus of people and businesses leaving the city and is concerned about tourists not wanting to visit.  Catsimatidis added, “We want to make sure New York City thrives.”

Chell said it’s important New York City doesn’t go backwards and “we have to protect the police,” while Wilde said “we’re enthusiastic about working with Mamdani about making New York City affordable and it’s a real opportunity for businesses to  partner with the new administration.”

Sheinkopf said “We haven’t yet met the new mayor at the bargaining table and it won’t be contentious unless the mayor makes it that way.

Suzanne Miller added, “As long as companies feel safe, they’ll stay here. I  want to keep them here.”

In addition, Catsimatidis said New York City has heart and we need to make sure the mentally ill get the treatment they need and they’re not on the street. “Let’s take care of these people,” he said.

He added, New York City is the capital of the world and we want to keep it that way. I’m going to fight for New York! Fight! Fight! Fight!”
