(Newark, NJ) — Fourteen people are arrested and charged in New Jersey in a “mob-related” illegal sports betting ring. Attorney General Matthew Platkin says the suspects operated a multi-million-dollar online illegal betting enterprise run by organized crime members.
Platkin says Joseph “Little Joe” Perna,” a soldier in the Lucchese crime family, funded the operation and his son Joseph ran it. He allegedly recruited college students to entice Gen-Zers to place bets.
Two former Rutgers University wrestlers, Michael Cetta and Nicholas Raimo, were among those charged.
