New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani campaigns in New York City
(New York, NY) — They say clothes make the man. If you were following the New York City race for mayor, you probably noticed that New York City Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani had a specific look. The 34-year-old wore a suit every day on the campaign trail, which isn’t typical for someone his age. Most millennials are more comfortable in a quarter-zip sweater. The New York Times wrote, “the suit he wore was the quintessential entry-level suit for a 30-something striving to be taken seriously.”

Mamdani’s look consisted of dark blue suit, white shirt and blue or red tie. Mamdani says he owns about four or five suits from the brand, Suitsupply, a reasonably-priced Dutch line that has five stores in New York. Mamdani says “I wear it a little too much honestly — it’s the workhorse.” Will he upgrade to a more expensive brand now that he’s been elected to City Hall?
Mamdani’s Wife Rama Duwaji

As for Mamdani’s wife, 28-year-old Rama Duwaji, she too has her own style. For election night, she wore a sleeveless denim top by Palestinian-Jordanian designer Zeid Hijazi and paired it with a black mid-calf velvet-and-lace skirt by New York designer Ulla Johnson. The New York Times said “her outfit subtly nodded to the cross-cultural identity of Mandani’s campaign, which has been a vocal supporter of the Free Palestine movement.” Come January 1st, Duwaji will become the youngest first lady in the city’s history. She has an undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and an MFA in Illustration as Visual Essay from the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
