(British Columbia, Canada) — Some 300 ostriches in British Columbia are going to be killed. The Supreme Court of Canada dismissed an appeal by a British Columbia farm to save the birds. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency or CFIA first ordered the birds destroyed after bird flu was detected at the farm. However, crews in hazmat suits starting moving onto the property Thursday morning. The owner of the farm is devastated by the news.

Meantime, John Catsimatidis, owner and operator of 77 WABC Radio, hopes to come to the rescue. He said he’s very disappointed with the court’s decision and said, “I think Canadian people deserve a thorough investigation” into what’s going on. Catsimatidis quoted Dr. Oz, the Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, who said the birds might have important antibodies that could solve the avian flu problem.
In addition, Catsimatidis believes President Trump knows about the ostriches and said maybe the Department of Justice can do their own digging on the matter. He added, “All we want is common sense, sympathy and understanding and pray we do the right thing for these animals.”
