(New York, NY) – Mario, Pac-Man, a new Buzz Lightyear, and Shrek are coming to New York City this Thanksgiving. The beloved characters are the newest balloons to be unveiled in the 99th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Character balloons have become some of the most highly anticipated elements of the parade’s holiday tradition since 1927.
The annual balloon inflation is an event itself! It takes place the Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day, from about 12pm to 6pm. The event is held on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, surrounding the American Museum of Natural History, and is free to the public. Visitors enter the viewing path at 72nd Street and Columbus Avenue, walk a set route to see the balloons being inflated, and must go through security checks
The 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be held on Thursday, November 27, and will begin at 8:30 a.m
