Daylight Saving Time Ends

(Undated) – Remember to “fall back” of be an hour early for everything!  Daylight Saving Time ends at 2am Sunday morning, November 2nd, though most people turn their clocks back and hour before going to be Saturday night, meaning we gain an hour and more light in the morning.

While there is a link between moving the clocks forward and things like heart attacks and traffic accidents, there are fewer issues when it comes to moving them back. Many will get an extra hour of sleep, which can cause some issues with sleep habits. More darkness as we approach winter could lead to some developing seasonal depression.

We “spring forward” when Daylight Saving Time begins on March 8th, 2026. This won’t affect most people in Hawaii or Arizona, however, where Daylight Saving Time is not observed. The Sunshine Protection Act, which would make Daylight Saving Time permanent nationwide, has stalled in the House of Representatives despite Senate approval.

Two Florida Republican lawmakers reintroduced the Sunshine Protection Act earlier this year and it would put power in the hands of states to determine the fate of the biannual changing of the clocks in the U.S. The bill received bipartisan support, a committee hearing and it even advanced, but Senator Tom Cotton thwarted the effort by noting the complicated history of permanent daylight saving time in the nation. Several states are already considering legislation to stop changing the clocks, but efforts are largely split between permanent daylight saving time and permanent standard time.
