(New York, NY) – Traces of the TCS New York City Marathon are popping up ahead of race day this Sunday (Nov. 2nd). New York Road Runners CEO Rob Simmelkjaer gathered officials to paint the blue line that runs along the 26-point-two-mile course through all five boroughs.
More than 55-thousand runners are expected to follow the iconic line, with more than two million set to watch and cheer them on, on what’s considered the best day of the year. New York Road Runners says the TCS New York City Marathon is projected to generate nearly 700 million dollars for the city.
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch says there is no credible threat to the 26-point-two-mile route that draws roughly two million spectators. Tisch says spectators entering designated viewing areas in Central Park will be subject to bag checks and security screenings. Residents across New York City are reminded not to park along the marathon route or risk being towed and warns the marathon will impact traffic across the five boroughs with road closures.
