(Washington D.C) – Eleanor Holmes Norton is reportedly the victim of a scam that happened right in her own home. Norton, 88, is the nonvoting representative for D.C. in the House of Representatives. A police report obtained by NBC News details an incident this past Thursday.

A group claiming to be a cleaning crew entered Norton’s home and charged her credit card while she was home alone. The police report described the lawmaker as being in the “early stages of dementia” with a caretaker that has power of attorney. Her office disputes the diagnosis saying the police officer was not qualified to make that determination. Nothing was stolen and no arrests have been made.

Norton has repeatedly said they plan to launch a campaign for re-election, despite multiple challengers. The activist-turned lawmaker has been in her seat since 1991. She is the second person to ever hold the D.C Representative office.
