(New York, NY) – Tonight the three top candidates for mayor in New York City will debate. This is the second debate during this general election, which has already seen incumbent Mayor Eric Adams drop out of the contest. Now, it’s Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani, Independent and longtime Democrat Andrew Cuomo, as well as Republican-Independent Curtis Sliwa.
77 WABC will broadcast the debate along with live commentary and analysis. It begins at 7:00 tonight and you can listen at 770 AM and on the 77 WABC app, as well as WABCradio.com
Polling has consistently put Mamdani in the lead — with a sizeable advantage — unless the race were Mamdani vs. Cuomo. One poll says that hypothetical contest would be close, with Mamdani up by four points. That was put out by Gotham Polling and the NYC chapter of the AARP. The same survey also showed Sliwa’s support increasing, following the first debate.
This second debate is being moderated by New York 1 News (Spectrum). The candidates will speak from a stage in Queens for what is scheduled to be a 90-minute debate.
In the first debate, Mamdani played mostly defense, with the front-runner taking a lot of shots from Cuomo and Sliwa. But it wasn’t enough to cut into his double-digit lead in nearly every poll. The race is in the national spotlight with Mamdani’s self-described socialist label. President Trump has been warning New Yorkers not to vote for him, but even he admits Mamdani’s lead may be too large to overcome.
VOTE: Who Will Win the Race?
