(New York, NY) – After a newborn baby girl was abandoned at Penn Station, New York City cops have released surveillance camera video — of a woman who was seen carrying the child just seconds before.
WANTED for questioning: On 10/20/25 at 9:04 AM, an unidentified individual left an infant unattended and wrapped in a blanket on the southbound 1 train platform at 34 St–Penn Station subway station before fleeing on foot.

It was around 10:00 Monday morning when the discovery was made. The little girl was found wrapped in a blanket — with the umbilical cord still attached. Someone had placed on on the staircase leading to the southbound 1, 2, and 3 train platform. Cops say the little girl was conscious and alert before being hospitalized in stable condition. Taken to Bellevue Hospital, the search for the girl’s mother continues.
New York does have a “Safe Haven Law” — which allows for a parent to leave a baby at a safe location — perhaps a hospital, police station, or firehouse. Subway stations are not considered a safe and acceptable spot.
NYPD officers say the woman they are now looking for left the station about a half hour before the baby was found. She appears to be in her 40s, and was last seen wearing a red head-scarf, pinks pants, and classes. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
