(East Rutherford, NJ) – Around the NFL, you have teams that play home games in cities that don’t match the city on their chest. The San Francisco 49ers play in Santa Clara. The Dallas Cowboys play in Arlington, Texas. And soon the Chicago Bears will play in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
But ever since the 1970s, and later for the Jets in the 1980s, both New York football teams have played their home contests in New Jersey. First it was at Giants Stadium, and most recently in MetLife Stadium — in the Meadowlands — East Rutherford, New Jersey.
So the question is, should they be the New Jersey Jets and Giants? Survey says: no. A Quinnipiac University sports poll shows 6 in 10 fans prefer both teams keep the New York name. Just 29% argue it should be New Jersey.
