(Los Angeles, CA) – In recent months there has been a lot of focus places on LA, in terms of crime. At the beginning of President Trump’s term, anti ICE demonstrations turned into riots, and the National Guard was eventually deployed to help. More recently, a man was arrested in Florida after being accused of starting this year’s deadly Palisades Fire.
But elsewhere in Southern California, especially Los Angeles County, property crimes are a routine concern. Grand Theft Auto has plagued the region for years. Petty shoplifting and similar offenses are also commonplace. But now the data shows that LA County is also home to the nation’s most burglarized city.
It’s not LA itself, and it’s not Compton — turns out that Vernon is the most burglarized city in the entire US. Safewise, a security research firm, says the FBI data points to Vernon. Publicly available numbers dating back to 2023 show Vernon has the most burglaries per every 100 people. More than half of Vernon’s residents were burglarized that year. The city has a population of 208 — with 110 burglaries recorded. That gives it the highest burglary rate of all cities in the nation.
