(New York, NY) — At least one person is dead as a nor’easter hits the Northeast with rain and heavy winds. A 76-year old woman was killed in New York City when a solar panel broke loose to due to the strong winds and hit her while walking on a sidewalk near Ocean Parkway and Brighton Beach Avenue
The storm also caused the cancellation of the iconic Columbus Day Parade. Rain and strong winds caused havoc around the city and the surrounding areas Sunday through Monday night. A state of emergency was declared in New York and New Jersey.
Flight delays piled up as the powerful nor’easter hit the Northeast. In New York, LaGuardia and JFK airports experienced ground delays lasting hours. Hundreds of flights were canceled or delayed at Boston’s Logan International Airport. These delays are impacting the rest of the U.S.
