Local Elections Are Heating Up and Dolly is Doing Fine

(New York, NY) – Election Day is inching closer and the campaigns are getting much more feisty. Here in New York, Independent mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo is closing in on the consistent frontrunner, Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani. Over in New Jersey, the gubernatorial race might see some legal action following the final debate. Meanwhile nationally, a spokesperson for the White House is responding the announced winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Finally, Dolly Parton says she is in good spirits after a post from her sister sent fans into a tizzy. 

Local Elections Are Closing In 

We are almost at the finish line of the latest campaign season. Here in New York City, the contentious mayoral campaign is now just a 3-man race. Sitting Mayor Eric Adams announced he was suspending his campaign, leaving Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani, Independent Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa. Mamdani still leads in the latest poll, however Cuomo saw a 10 point jump following Adams’ campaign suspension.

Meanwhile in the Garden State, the governor’s race is in the no-holds barred phase of the showdown between Democrat Mikie Sherrill and Republican Jack Ciatarelli. This past Wednesday, the two faced off in a final debate, where Sherrill accused Ciatarelli of having a hand in the opioid epidemic. Ciatarelli says he plans on taking Sherrill to court over her claims. 

White House Reacts to Nobel Prize Winner 

The Nobel Peace Committee is naming this year’s winner of the esteemed humanitarian award: Maria Corina Machado. The Venezuelan opposition leader took over headlines during her run against President Nicholas Maduro. Machado was briefly detained following her loss, which many Western countries believe was due to an illegitimate election. President Trump has been campaigning for the award, however it was only 11 days into his second term when the nomination deadline passed. Trump spokesman Stephen Cheung took to social media, slamming the Norwegian committee: 

Dolly Parton Says She is Doing OK

Country superstar Dolly Parton is trying to calm her panicked fans online after posts from her sister caused quite the scare. Dolly’s sister posted on social media asking for prayers for Dolly, which triggered a lot of anxiety from fans of the 11-time Grammy winner. Parton, for her part, posted saying that she is in good health, and has had some issues in the past but is “working hard” to get past them.
