(New York, NY) – With less than one month to go before Election Day, how is former governor Andrew Cuomo feeling about his prospects for victory? That will be the main topic Friday, October 10, as Cuomo will join 77 WABC for an exclusive interview with Sid Rosenberg.
Be sure to set an alarm on your phone, download the 77 WABC app, and listen at 8:25 AM.
“Sid and Friends in the Morning” will welcome the Independent candidate, as there are now three major candidates jockeying for position — Cuomo, Republican-Independent Curtis Sliwa, and Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani.
In recent days, Cuomo has attempted to frame himself as a strong “anti crime” candidate — vowing to hire 5,000 more cops if he’s elected. Cuomo has also reversed course on the closure of Rikers Island Jail — saying he no longer supports such a step. The former governor has also gone at Mamdani, calling out the state lawmaker for being a dual citizen of the US and Uganda — where it’s literally illegal to be gay.
Despite New York City being the birthplace of the modern “Gay Rights Movement” in the late 1960s, here in 2025 — Mamdani seeks to be mayor. And he does so as a citizen of a country where homosexuality is outlawed — and in some cases — punishable by death. Mamdani also celebrated his recent wedding with a lavish, three-day bash in Uganda.
Cuomo does have to overcome a series of campaign “negatives” if he’s to win the race. Many remain angry over his actions during COVID — especially the infamous “nursing home order” that may have caused tens of thousands of more deaths than were necessary. Others — including Sliwa — have hammered Cuomo for his decisions when it came to policing crime. Cuomo championed and put into effect things like “raise the age” and the removal of cashless bail.
Sliwa says Cuomo is not the anti-crime candidate. Cuomo has said he’s an experienced politician who can do good things for New York City. The discussion between him and Sid at 8:25 AM is one that will reveal a lot.
