(Washington, DC) — President Trump is confirming Israel and Hamas have signed off on the first phase of his peace plan.
The initial indication peace talks were progressing October 8th when Secretary of State Marco Rubio interrupted Trump during a meeting, and handed him a note that reportedly said “Very close. We need you to approve a Truth Social post soon so you can announce deal first.”
Trump later posted, “ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.” Phase one is the exchange of Israeli hostages held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners being held by Israel. Trump may be traveling to Egypt to take part in the peace deal.
The Associated Press is reporting that Hamas plans to release all 20 living hostages this weekend, while the Israeli military will begin a withdrawal from the majority of Gaza. The announcement comes two years after Hamas attacked Israel, starting a war that has claimed tens of thousands of lives. President Trump said he may travel to the Middle East as early as this weekend.
