(Vineland, NJ) – The annual Red Mass in Washington, DC is traditionally attended by US Supreme Court justices — ahead of their term. But the event was disturbingly interrupted this past weekend by a hateful leftist out of New Jersey — during an incident that brought out the bomb squad.

Cops arrested 41-year-old Louis Geri of Vineland, New Jersey on Sunday — outside St. Matthew’s Cathedral in the nation’s capital. He’d already been banned from the cathedral itself, but this took place on the steps — where Geri had set up a tent.

It turned out at least 200 explosives were inside that tent, according to authorities. The Washington Post obtained court documents, which say that Geri told responding cops: “You might want to stay back and call the federales, I have explosives.” He got into a discussion with a sergeant, who eventually agreed to read a notebook Geri had handed over. Titled “Written Negotiations for the Avoidance of Destruction of Property via Detonation of Explosives,” the court documents say the manifesto contained hateful comments critical of Catholics, Jewish people, Supreme Court justices, and ICE agents.

After refusing to leave his tent, the Metropolitan Police Department called in the bomb squad. Geri is accused of saying “Do you want me to throw one out, I’ll test one out on the streets?” while also saying he had hundreds of explosives at his disposal. At some point cops threatened to forcibly remove Geri from his tent, to which the man responded: “several of your people are gonna die from one of these.”

The New York Post dug into the court documents and found that a sergeant noticed Geri was carrying a butane lighter — while holding something else. That sergeant pulled open the tent’s flap in full, and Geri shouted, “All right, if you want to do it, we’ll do it now,” — at least according to court documents. Geri is accused of pulling out several capped vials containing yellow liquid. Cops say explosives were taped to them. A later analysis determined they were “fully functional.” The court documents allege Geri ominously said “step away or there’s going to be deaths.”

From there, a mini standoff ensued. Cops pulled back and established a perimeter. Geri left his tent at one point in order to urinate on some nearby trees — that’s when he was stormed and arrested. The FBI then teste his alleged cache of explosives. Some of them contained nitromethane — an explosive that can me made at home — and was used in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

Some of the explosives have been described as bottle rockets with modified aluminum heads. Geri has been charged with eight counts — including making weapons of mass destruction in furtherance of a hate crime. He’ll remain in custody ahead of trial, per a judge’s order.
