(New York, NY) — In the nearly 20 years since Bernie Williams last game with the Yankees, he’s gotten a degree in music and never stopped playing his guitar. Now, he’s booked a gig at Carnegie Hall. On January 13th, Williams will be appearing with tenor Jonathan Tetelman. They’ll also be backed up by violinists from the Met Orchestra, along with Met’s shortstop Francisco Lindor’s wife, Katia, who’s a violinist. The New York Times reports that a reporter recently asked Williams how being a Yankee prepared him to do a concert like this. He said just the opposite, that learning music as a child prepared him to be a professional athlete.
By the way, this concert was the brainchild of Adam Unger, who met Williams when he was a 14 year old ball boy with the Yankees. Unger is now a sports lawyer.
