(Providence, RI) – It’s a beautiful time to be in New England. The fall foliage is coming in and the air is getting crisp. Families are out picking apples and choosing pumpkins. Plus, if you’re single — and looking for love — one of the northeastern states is the place to be. At least, according to one study.
Website PrivacyJournal says Vermont is the safest state in the country for online dating. And that is the predominant way for couples to meet these days, after all. PrivacyJournal looked at a series of factors to determine the safest online dating experiences. Apparently Vermont scored well in terms of the reported number of romance scams, identity theft, fraud, and STDs — per 100,000 people. The study also examined the number of registered sex offenders in any given state.
After Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, Iowa and Kentucky took the next four spots.
Not everywhere is as safe as New England when it comes to the idyllic Midwest. The site’s study said the most dangerous states for online dating are Nevada, Alaska, and Georgia — in order.
