(New York, NY) – It’s a cliche, but it’s true — you never know who you will bump into while walking the halls of 77 WABC. That was certainly the case this past week, as former US Senator for Georgia, Kelly Loeffler — the current administrator for the Small Business Administration — joined us for a couple interviews.

As is typically the case, owner-operator John Catsimatidis met Loeffler and walked her down to the main studio — where Greg Kelly was hosting his mid-day show. So — naturally — she sat for an interview, before the Catsimatidis’ interview. Greg, surprised to see her, said, “this is totally cold! No prep whatsoever!” He praised Loeffler for her campaign against US Senator Raphael Warnock before welcoming her into the studio.

Loeffler also joined Catsimatidis for his Sunday morning program The Cats Roundtable. It was in February when was was confirmed as SBA administrator. After sitting-Georgia senator Johnny Isakson announced his intention to retire, Governor Brian Kemp appointed Loeffler as senator. She served from 2020 to 2021.

A successful businesswoman, Loeffler has worked in the financial industry — and previously owned a stake in the Atlanta Dream — an WNBA franchise. She purchased a minority stake in 2010, then partnered with Mary Brock to purchased the team outright one year later. An active owner, Loeffler arranged her travel schedule to attend games and routinely met with head coach Michael Cooper to discuss strategy.

Ultimately, Loeffler sold her stake in the Atlanta Dream in 2021, following outspoken criticism of the Black Lives Matter movement. Players on the roster and around the WNBA expressed their disappointment with those comments.

In April, Loeffler told Catsimatidis small businesses around the US were feeling optimistic.

Loeffler joined Fox Business for an interview Friday, warning that Zohran Mamdani would be disastrous for New York City, if he’s elected mayor. She said more than 100,000 small businesses across the Big Apple employ more than 1 million people. Loeffler said: “New York is the capital of capitalism and small businesses. Small businesses are very concerned about what might be coming down the road, particularly as they hear threats of socialist policies, government takeover of industries, rising regulation, rising taxes, a minimum wage that may skyrocket to $30 an hour and cost thousands of jobs.” Loeffler also said businesses have reported seeing an “eroding customer base.”

“We’ve already had this socialist experiment of runaway spending that drove inflation and massive regulation. That stopped the ability of innovative industries like artificial intelligence and crypto to flourish,” Loeffler argued.
