Architect Charged In Long Island Serial Killer Case – Long Island
(New York, NY) — A big ruling today in the case of alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann. A judge ruled that all seven murder cases against him will be tried together. This is a blow to the defense, who wanted seven separate trials. In addition, for a second time, the judge also ruled that nuclear DNA evidence can be used at trial. Heuermann’s lawyers were against the decision, claiming the outside lab that did the testing lacked New York State Department of Health permits. Meantime, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney feels the judge’s decisions were a victory for his office. He said, “We wanted one and that’s what we got.”
There was an indication that the judge could have possibly set a trial date this week, but instead a deadline of January 13th, 2026 has been set for defense motions to be filed.
