(New York, NY) – Following what will be a three-day suspension, the word is Jimmy Kimmel is returning to the airwaves Tuesday night. Kimmel had been suspended for an indefinite length of time after he made insensitive and inaccurate remarks concerning the Charlie Kirk assassination.
His suspension kicked off a protracted debate about the First Amendment and freedom of speech. Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani backed out of a townhall style debate later this week, because it was going to be broadcast on ABC affiliate Eyewitness News.
Disney said it made the decision to pull Kimmel off the air “to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country.” The company went on to say it has spent the past several days “having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy.”
