(Hoboken, NJ) — Hoboken is sick of double parkers, cars blocking bike lanes, and vehicles stalling in loading zones. Now, they hope new technology is going to put a stop to it.
Busy Washington Street in the heart of Hoboken has parking issues according to city data. On average, bike lanes are blocked by drivers for almost five hours a day. Now, cameras have been installed all along Washington Street, that will automatically ticket those violating parking laws.
The city says other major cities have similar programs and have had great success. The cameras are already in place and will begin catching violators on October 1st.
