(London, UK) — President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are back in the U.S. after receiving the royal treatment during a state visit to the United Kingdom last week. The President was in England for high level talks with Prime Minister Keir Starmer, but before they sat down the First Couple were treated to carriage rides, military flyovers and a state banquet.

The Trumps arrived in the U.K. on Wednesday, receiving a lavish welcome by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle. The First Lady was taken on a tour of Windsor Castle by Camilla and met with the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, for an outdoor event with young scouts at Frogmore Gardens. Later in the day the First Couple joined the royal family, along with local lawmakers to view a military parade, that included flyovers by U.S. and British F-35 fighter jets, and a royal guard of honor.
The long day ended in style with King and Queen of England hosting the President and First Lady at an opulent state banquet. The guests were served Hampshire watercress panna cotta with parmesan shortbread and quail egg salad, followed by organic Norfolk chicken ballotine, with a thyme and savory infused jus. When the President was asked about when he ate, he replied “whatever the hell they served us”

On Thursday, President Trump got down to business with British Prime Minister Starmer at the leader’s country home. When the two leaders emerged from their meeting they announced a $350 billion “Tech Prosperity Deal” that will aim to increase cooperation between the U.S and the U.K. in quantum computing and artificial intelligence. The two leaders also announced a deal that will bolster the deployment of new nuclear power stations in both nations.

British leaders called the meeting between Trump and Starmer a success. They had been worried about a number of items ahead of the visit. Days before Trump arrived, protesters projected huge photos of the President standing next to the deceased sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein onto the outside walls of Windsor Castle where the Trumps were about to stay. Also days before the Trumps arrived, the U.K fired it’s ambassador to the U.S., Peter Mandelson over his connections to Epstein.

Leaders were also concerned Trump and Starmer might do battle over foreign policy differences, but that was diffused when President Trump batted away a question from reporters about the U.K.’s consideration of recognizing a Palestinian state. “I have a disagreement with the Prime Minister on that score, one of our few disagreements actually,” Trump told reporters.

The last concern for British leaders was keeping President Trump away from protesters during his visit and they were successful in doing so.
