(New York, NY) – While Congress struggles to pass a resolution to keep the lights on, the House passed a resolution honoring the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk. More locally, Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani is getting more establishment leaders to back his campaign for Gracie Mansion. Also happening, former “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno is weighing in on the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel. We have all the stories you need to know this Saturday.
Charlie Kirk Day Declared
Members of the House of Representatives are condemning political violence following the shooting death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. In a resolution passed 310-58, 95 Democrats crossed partisan lines. House Speaker Mike Johnson lambasted the Democrats who voted against the resolution or abstained due to the political stances of Kirk.


Mamdani Scores Endorsement Trifecta
All three of the top Democrats in New York State politics have thrown their support behind the Democratic candidate for city mayor, Zohran Mamdani. Governor Kathy Hochul was the first to start the trend announcing her support for his vision for the big apple. Then a few days later, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie proclaimed his support for the two-term assemblyman. The latest name to back Mamdani, the leader in the other State chamber – State Senate Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins.
Judge Tosses President’s NYT Lawsuit
A judge has thrown out President Trump’s defamation lawsuit against the New York Times. The judge said the complaint filed by attorneys is simply too long and needs to be shortened in order to be considered in court. Trump sued the Times claiming their reporters defamed him leading up to the 2024 election. The judge gave 28 days to file a new complaint.


Jay Leno Says Jimmy Kimmel Will Bounce Back
Former late night show host Jay Leno is sharing his thoughts on the Jimmy Kimmel debacle. Leno, who famously had a TV feud with Kimmel, says that he will be back one way or another. Leno dismissed criticism of Kimmel saying, “he is a comedian” adding, “if you don’t like it, don’t watch it”.
