(Los Angeles, CA) — Disney’s ABC has announced it is taking Jimmy Kimmel’s show off the air “for the foreseeable future” following comments he made about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The announcement came after Nexstar Media Group, a major operator of ABC-affiliated stations, said in a statement that it “strongly objects” to recent comments made by Kimmel concerning Kirk’s alleged assassin. The Texas-based company said earlier it would replace the show with other programming in its 28 ABC-affiliated markets.
In his monologue Monday night, Kimmel raised the possibility that the alleged assassin of Kirk, Tyler Robinson, might have been a pro-Trump Republican. It’s unclear when Kimmel’s show will go back on the air.
President Trump posted on TruthSocial congratulating the network for “finally having the courage to do what had to be done.” The President went on to say, Kimmel has zero talent and worse ratings than even Colbert and “that leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers on Fake News NBC.” Trump closed by saying, “Do it NBC!!!”
