(New York, NY) – Mayor Eric Adams is announcing his support for a ban on horse-drawn carriages in New York City. He signed an executive order on September 17th strengthening industry oversight.
He’s also calling on the City Council to pass Ryder’s Law, a bill that would phase out horse-drawn carriages and replace them with electric alternatives. That bill has languished in the City Council for more than a year.
Ryder was a Central Park carriage horse who collapsed in August 2022 and died two months later.
