September 11 Anniversary and Memorial in New York City, US – 11 Sep 2025
(New York, NY) — New York City marked the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with it’s annual ceremony in Lower Manhattan. Bells tolled and moments of silence were held as family members of the victims read the names of the nearly three-thousand killed on 9/11 and in the ’93 World Trade Center bombing.

The relative of a firefighter killed in the 9-11 attacks went after Democratic mayoral candidate, Zoran Mamdani during the reading of the names. Mike Weinstein, broke with protocol at the city’s annual commemoration downtown, saying;
“When political candidates and public officials refuse to condemn global terror and phrases such as ‘Globalize the Intifada,’ they are inviting another 9/11, God forbid, and they continue to bring daily fear for all New Yorkers. Enough. Enough is enough. It’s 24 years later,”
There was some applause from the families who showed up at the World Trade Center site for the city’s annual commemoration. He continued;
“We need all political candidates including every single potential future mayor, and you know who I’m talking about, of this great city to speak out against terror, and unite as freedom-loving New Yorkers. God bless America. Land of the free and home of the brave.”

Mamdani who was in attendance for the ceremony was no longer there when Weinstein made his comments. The campaign did not respond when asked for the candidate’s reaction to the short speech. Weinstein’s cousin, 23-year-old Stephen Belson, a firefighter was killed in the World Trade Center towers as he raced in to save workers trapped in the building on 9/11.

After giving a speech at the Pentagon on 9/11, President Trump traveled to Yankee stadium to watch the Bronx bombers take on the Detroit Tigers with some families of fallen 9/11 first responders. The President met with members of the Yankees in the clubhouse before the game. He predicted they would win, and the home team came through taking apart the Tigers 9 to 3.
