(New York, NY) – Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot dead today while speaking at an event in Utah. He was 31 years old. Kirk was speaking while seated — underneath a tent — at Utah Valley University. Reports originally said a suspect was taken into custody — but now it seems the shooter is still at large.
A bullet fired from what appears to have been a high-powered rifle seemingly struck Kirk in the neck or upper chest area. Video posted to social media shows the moment Kirk was shot, with a zoomed in photo showing a significant amount of blood loss.
In 2012 he co-founded Turning Point USA. Kirk was known for engaging in measured, calm conversation with his political dissenters. His podcast was previously aired on 77 WABC. President Trump, who originally put out the call for prayers, confirmed Kirk’s passing on Truth Social. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.
