(New York, NY) – The tri-state area was enjoying a good streak of picturesque weather, however that came to a cold, wet stop this weekend. No amount of rain could dampen the spirits of the players who got lucky in the latest lottery drawing. Not as lucky – a woman is being named “Phillies Karen” following a viral feud over a home run ball. These are all the stories you need to start the fresh week:
Stormy Weekend in the Metro Area
It was a good run we had but the streak of moderately warm temperatures and sunny skies got a rainy weekend intermission. The storms were less intense than expected, however some areas did see minor damage like fallen trees and downed power lines. A small fire was reported in Yonkers, but first responders were able to quickly bring it under control. The sun returns with the start of the new week but temperatures dip following the cold front rolling into the area.
Two Winners Split the Powerball
The second largest Powerball Jackpot sitting around $1.8 billion has two winners following the drawing Saturday night. One lucky player is from Texas and the other from Missouri. The winning Texas ticket was sold at a rural gas station. Missouri marks the 33rd time the Powerball has been won in the state, only second in the record after Indiana (39 wins). There were some smaller wins as well as 15 players winning a $1 million payout for matching all five white balls. Two of those tickets were sold in New York and one in New Jersey.

Calls Continue for President Trump to Fire RFK Jr.
After a tense round of questioning by the Senate Finance Committee this past week, calls are growing for President Trump to name a new head of Health and Human Services. RFK was grilled on the firing of a CDC Director he previously named as the best fit for the position, along with his opinions on vaccines. Now, the former Surgeon General during Trump’s first term – Jerome Adams – is calling for Trump to fire Kennedy for the “sake of the nation and the sake of his legacy.”
Why is a Woman Being Named “Phillies Karen”?
A woman is going viral for a kerfuffle over a home ball in the stands of a Phillies game in Miami. Video shows the moment a man finagled the ball from under the seats, and gave it to his son. Their celebration was quickly interrupted by a woman claiming the father snatched the ball from her hands. The dad gives the ball back to the woman, who was later booed in the LoanDepot Stadium. Marlins staffers made it up to the boy by giving him other home run balls from the night. Harrison Bader, the player who nailed that homer, also gave the boy a signed bat.
