(West Milford Twp, NJ) — Crews continue to get a handle on a large wildfire in Passaic County. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service says the Buckabear Wildfire, which broke out near the Clinton Reservoir in West Milford Township Tuesday afternoon, is 30-percent contained.
Overnight crews constructed containment lines and began backfire operations. By day, a forest fire service helicopter began dropping buckets containing 325 gallons of water. Clinton Road has been closed between Goldfinch Lane & Van Orden Road.
Around 120 acres of have been scorched. The area is fairly rural so no structures are being threatened. The cause is under investigation.
