(Darlington, SC) – Back in 2008, which feels like centuries ago from a “content” perspective — the world split its sides laughing when Tropic Thunder hit the big screen. It’s star-studded cast included a controversial turn from Robert Downey Jr. before he had hit it mega-big as Ironman. In Ben Stiller’s action comedy, Downey Jr. played an actor — using blackface — to play an African American man.
Downey Jr. has since said in interviews that “most” of his Black friends appreciated it. But for sure, in 2025, the concept of a white actor using blackface in a major motion picture is about as foreign as minstrel shows. Yet — comedy always pushes the envelope — and at least in the ying-yang sense of things, black actors using whiteface is at least partially allowed.

A video has been posted and is now making the rounds, featuring comedian and content creator Druski in whiteface — attending a NASCAR event. His look is honestly impeccable and the makeup artist deserves the highest praise. Druski, who is black and typically wears closely-cropped, dyed-blonde hair, had a long brown mullet. He also sported a big, bushy beard. And — complete with a sleeveless tee farmer’s tan — and fake tattoos.
Druski’s comedic acting nails the rest of it, given the accuracy of his look. He smokes a cigarette while a woman sits on his lap. At one point he spits at the feet of passing black NASCAR fans. His cowboy hat and blue overalls truly complete the look.

It’s not Druski’s first brush with “white face” controversy. In May, he posted a video showing him playing the character “Preston,” described as a “white boy who’s accepted by the hood.” Unsurprisingly, some got mad — others chuckled. That’s the name of the game in comedy!
