(Washington, DC) — President Trump is taking to social media to announce he’ll award the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, to Rudy Giuliani.
New York City’s former mayor, and one-time Trump lawyer, was seriously injured in a New Hampshire car crash Saturday night after his rental car was rear-ended by a 19-year-old driver. The 81-year-old suffered a fractured vertebrae, injuries to his left arm and leg and multiple lacerations. The New York Post is reporting that Giuliani had been flagged down by a domestic violence victim. He helped the woman, called 9-1-1 and waited for police to arrive. When he got back into his car, that’s when the former mayor’s vehicle was hit from behind
Trump didn’t reference the accident but called his long-time ally “the greatest Mayor in the history of New York City, and an equally great American Patriot.”
Guiliani was disbarred for trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election. He was released from the hospital this afternoon and is planning to recover in Manchester, near the hospital where he was treated.
