(Trenton, NJ) — New Jersey health officials continue to investigate how a Morris County person came down with Malaria. The Garden State records about 100 travel-related cases of malaria each year, but the latest case is not linked to international travel. This newest case in Morris County comes only weeks after an unrelated case in Washington State was confirmed in a person who also did not travel internationally. New Jersey health officials are working with the CDC to identify the possible source of the infection.

Meanwhile, crews are out mosquito spraying in Morris County. Malaria is a mosquito-borne disease caused by a parasite transmitted by certain mosquitoes.
