NYC’s War on Rats is Working

syndication-the-oklahoman-37

(New York, NY) — Mayor Eric Adams says New York City’s war on rats is working with rat sightings reported to 3-1-1 down eight straight months. It was eight months ago the city’s residential garbage containerization requirements went into effect.

So far about 75 percent of garbage in the city is required to be containerized. Residents in low density buildings have bought more than 800-thousand official NYC Bins to get trash bags off the streets and into containers.

Meanwhile, the sanitation’s highway unit formed more than two years ago has removed more than 15 million pounds of litter and debris from highway shoulders and medians. Sanitation Commissioner Javier Lojan says city is a lot cleaner in the last couple years.
