(New York, NY) – Kevin Droesch is 77 WABC’s program director. He entered the world of radio a decade ago after attending multiple colleges with a degree in communications. Droesch manages all the producers, board operators, hosts and coordinates with the sales department to help the station be successful. His constantly shifting schedule means everyday is its own adventure.

Droesch, who started as a board operator, has always had a love for politics, music, and humor. All things that WABC offers to its listeners. He has pushed himself to keep moving forward to achieve his goals. That hard work landed him the role he has now. No matter how much pressure he is under or how hectic his days are, Droesch loves what he does and strives for success each day. He is proud to direct a station that is informative, entertaining and has a great audience.

“(I’ve) kept climbing the ladder,” Droesch said.

Droesch works whenever he needs to in order to cover the needs of the station. The unpredictable hours are worth it for him to have this role at this legendary station.

“Every media job is a 24-hour job, but WABC is a standalone in 2025 because we are actually (live) over on the air 90% of the year,” Droesch said.

Working with the on-air talent has its challenges but is incredibly rewarding. He coordinates guest bookings, manages time slots and adapts to the ever-changing demands of the job that keeps him on his toes. News director, James Flippin describes Droesch as emotional support for everyone.

“We are bonded by the chaos,” Flippin noted.

Droesch remains the glue that holds WABC together behind the scenes. Whether it’s guiding a host through breaking news, calming nerves or solving last-minute technical issues, Droesch is always at the heart of it.

“I genuinely love what I do,” Droesch said.

His journey from the control board to the director’s chair is not just a story of professional success, but one of resilience and purpose. At WABC, he’s helping shape the voice of the station, day in and day out.
