New York, NY) — Andrew Cuomo’s mayoral campaign is disputing a New York Times report that details calls he’s had with President Trump about the race for City Hall. The President has not said much about the mayor’s race in the city he called home for decades. However, the Times reports the president spoke to Cuomo as he considers getting involved with the general election, taking several calls with pollsters and businessmen to figure out who has the best chance of beating Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani.
Cuomo and Trump have not always gotten along, but the president said last month that Cuomo has a good shot of winning and he should stay in the race. Cuomo’s campaign spokesperson says the pair have not spoken in some time while the President himself said he hasn’t spoken to Cuomo.
Meanwhile, the New York City Campaign Finance Board one again denied Mayor Adams millions of dollars in matching funds because they say they have reason to believe his campaign violated campaign laws. They did award $1.7 million in public matching funds to the Mamdani campaign and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa will receive $1.9 million in matching funds. Andrew Como’s campaign says they did not file for the funds.
