(Hillsdale, NJ) –Another earthquake has rocked North Jersey, the second one in three days. It was a 2.7 magnitude tremor that struck Hillsdale just after 11 a.m. on Tuesday. That’s in Bergen County where a 3.0 magnitude quake rocked Hasbrouck Heights on Saturday night. The U.S. Geological Survey said it could be felt as far away as Newark, in Brooklyn and near Poughkeepsie in the Hudson Valley. Some people reported light shaking but, again, there are no reports of injuries or damage.
It wasn’t a sonic boom that made the ground shake in North Jersey on Saturday night, it was an earthquake felt across the region. It was small, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, just three-point-zero on the Richter Scale and centered in Hasbrouck Heights. Still, a number of people reported feeling unnerved by it, saying their house was moving. It was felt in western Connecticut and New York, too, both in Westchester and in the city where some people said it sounded like a really loud subway train. No reports, though, of any injuries or damage.
