Some of the Biker Belles group pull into the Crossroads on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025, at the Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, South Dakota.

(Sturgis, SD) — A stunt biker brought the Sturgis crowd to its feet by doing something even Evel Knievel never did. Rockstar Energy athlete Colby Raha set a new world record for the longest motorcycle jump — 205 feet — right in the middle of a packed Thunderdome. After tying the record on his third try, Raha told his team he wasn’t stopping until he broke it. On his fourth attempt, he nailed it, flying through the air at 77 miles an hour. Raha says he did it for the fans and to live up to the legend of Evel Knievel, who first set the Sturgis record back in 1975.

There has been more than a dozen motorcycle crashes already at at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which kicked off last Friday. The Department of Public Safety, there were a total of 18 crashes between 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, with one of them being deadly. In addition to crashes, authorities say there were a total of 21 DUI arrests, 31 misdemeanor drug arrests and 14 felony drug arrests. The festival last ten days.
