Earthquake in New Jersey

quake

(Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) — It wasn’t a sonic boom that made the ground shake in North Jersey Saturday (Aug. 2, 2025) night, it was an earthquake felt across the region.

It was small, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, just three-point-zero on the Richter Scale and centered in Hasbrouck Heights in Bergen County.   Still, a number of people reported feeling unnerved by it, saying their house was moving.

It was felt in western Connecticut and New York, too, both in Westchester and in the city where some people said it sounded like a really loud subway train. No reports, though, of any injuries or damage.
